Special Events
May 11 & June 15
FREE admission for moms & dads!

On Mother's Day, moms receive free admission to the Museum; on Father's Day, dads receive free admission! Come spend a special day with your little ones.

Enjoy free admission on the third Thursday of every month from 5 - 8 p.m., courtesy of US Bank and FOX 6! Upcoming Neighborhood Nights will also include special programs:

May 15: On Stage Art
Recommended for age 3 and older. Museum educators and teaching artists from First Stage will help children create costumes and props to use for a performance and add to a scenic backdrop that will be installed in the Actor’s Stage, the Museum’s kid-sized theater. On Stage Art is supported in part by a grant from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Mary L. Nohl Fund.

June 19: ABC Garden Planting Night
Families are invited to help our ABC Garden come to life! The kids do the gardening and fill all of our colorful alphabet garden boxes from A to Z. A special program from Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens will keep your little sprouts busy, join Milwaukee Public Library staff for a Super Readers! program at 5:30 & 6:30 p.m., and join First Stage teaching artists for the On Stage Art program all night. Remember, gardening can be messy, so please dress appropriately.

July 17: “A Book Can Take You Anywhere” Literacy Night
Families will receive a free book, a suggested summer reading list, and examples of easy and fun activities they can do at home. Join Milwaukee Public Library staff for stories, songs and finger plays about summer fun at 5:30 & 6:30 p.m. to earn your first half hour of reading credit in the Super Reader program; and check out the Be A Maker space for a fun DIY project. Books graciously donated by Half Price Books.

August 21: Back-to-School Resource Fair
Join us for an evening filled with resources to help you prepare your children for the upcoming school year. Elementary school-age children in need are eligible to receive free school supplies (while supplies last) and caregivers can gather great information to ensure a successful year of learning. Stop by the Museum’s Be A Maker space for a fun, back-to-school themed DIY project. This year’s event is generously supported by Mike and Jennifer Keough. To support the Resource Fair or to make an in-kind donation, please call 414-390-KIDS (5437) ext. 240.

Throughout the year, the Museum’s Art Central gallery – sponsored by Mike and Jennifer Keough – features wonderful examples of art created by and for children.
