Pre-School Programs
About the Museum's pre-school programs
The years before age 5 are critical to a child's development. In addition to special programs throughout the year, our weekly pre-school programs build school-readiness as children and caregivers have fun learning together. Space is limited. Please sign up when you arrive at the Museum!
Pre-School Pop-In: Ages 3 – 5
Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
Join us for songs, stories and other fun group activities that focus on school readiness, and strengthening vocabulary and social skills.
Tot Time: Ages 1 – 3
Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
Singing, listening to stories, playing games and joining in activities for our youngest visitors are the first, critical steps in building academic and social skills for a lifetime. Join us for fun and games that are all about learning.
Music Makers: Ages 2 – 5
November 14 & 21, December 5 & 19 at 10:30 a.m.
Sing, listen, play rhythm instruments and move to music with staff from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.
Zumbini™: Age 3 and younger
December 1 at 10 a.m.
Join instructor Karen Mikolainis for fun, music, movement and dance in this 30-minute sample class.

Naomi’s Music Together: Age 5 and younger
December 10 at 10 a.m. & 11 a.m.
Play instruments, chant rhythms and move to music during this 30-minute class. Lead by Naomi Bodine, a teacher trained in the Music Together® program.
Music and Me: Ages 2 - 5
December 12 at 10:30 a.m.
Music activities are an important and fun way to build literacy, math and social skills. Join us to explore music, instruments and musical storytelling.
Be A Maker Programs
About Be A Maker programs
This series offers opportunities for the children and families who visit the Museum to explore a broad range of do-it-yourself maker activities using a variety of materials, real tools, digital resources and technology that make it fun to tinker, learn new skills and create something unique!

BAM: Open Studio
Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - noon
Trash or treasure? Use a variety of found and recycled items to create something unique.
BAM: Wild Card
Monday - Friday, 1:30 - 3 p.m.
From air-propelled rockets to slime, it’s a different experience (and experiment) every week in the BAM space!
BAM: Stained Glass
November 15 & 29 at 1 pm.
Age 6 and older. Learn and apply techniques for making stained glass with special guest Jon Schroder from Milwaukee’s Cobalt Glassworks.

Maximum capacity of 25 makers; wristbands available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at noon on the day of the program.

BAM: Jedi
December 13 & 27 at 1 p.m.
Age 7 and older. Construct a lightsaber!

Gingerbread Day
November 28
Catch the fun of gingerbread day at the Museum! Help build a kid-size gingerbread house in our Be A Maker space and listen to tasty tales at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
“The Nutcracker”
December 6 at 1 p.m.
Enjoy a taste of the dazzling journey to a magical land where dolls, toys and snowflakes come to life in Milwaukee Ballet’s seasonal favorite, “The Nutcracker.” Join the dancers as they perform excerpts from this classic ballet. Seating is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Anderson Insect Zoo
December 8 from 10 a.m. - noon
Learn more about the fascinating world of insects with entomologists from Anderson Pest Solutions, when they bring some of their unusual insect friends to the Museum for children to experience up close.
Story Time Yoga
December 9 at 10:30 a.m.
Get moving with Minda Devorkin, local author and youth yoga teacher! Children experience different ways to move their bodies and use their minds when they share fun and playful stories while learning yoga.
Ballet Class with the Milwaukee Ballet
December 15 at 10 a.m.
Join dancers from Milwaukee Ballet II in a beginning dance/movement class. Learn the positions, work on splits, try runs and leaps, and more!
Get Growing with Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens
December 16 at 10:30 a.m.
Learn about Johnny Appleseed, discover super things about spiders, design a gorgeous gourd, and find out why evergreens are ever green!
Winter Break Fun
December 22, 23, 26, 29, 30, 31 and January 2
Join a winter break wonderland of fun with special Be A Maker programs, and workshops offered at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily.
