Pre-School Programs
ABOUT THE MUSEUM'S PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS
The years before age 5 are critical to a child's development. In addition to special programs throughout the year, our weekly pre-school programs build school-readiness as children and caregivers have fun learning together. Space is limited. Please sign up when you arrive at the Museum!
Music Makers with the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music (Ages 2 – 5)
Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
There will be no Music Makers March 25 or April 1
Sing, listen, play rhythm instruments and move to music.
Tot Time (Ages 1 – 3)
Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
There will be no Tot Time on March 31
Singing, listening to stories, playing games and joining in activities for our youngest visitors are the first, critical steps in building academic and social skills for a lifetime. Join us for fun and games that are all about learning.
Pint-Size Science (Ages 2 - 5)
February 10, March 9 and April 13 at 10:30 a.m.
From the kitchen to the playground - and even in the car - science is all around us. Join us as we make exciting science discoveries through stories, songs and experiments!
Naomi's Music Together (5 and younger)
March 23 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Play instruments, chant rhythms and move to music during this 30-minute class with Naomi Bodine, a teacher trained in the Music Together program. This national program is known for its developmentally appropriate research-based curriculum.
Be A Maker Programs
Be a Maker: Printmaking with Allie
Wednesdays through April 27, 2 – 4 p.m.
Allie Smith will be in the BAM space every Wednesday sharing her printmaking knowledge and creativity. These sessions are free with regular Museum admission.

Black History Month
February
Celebrate Black History Month with a scavenger hunt throughout the Museum and learn about inventors who changed history.
It’s in the Bank sponsored by WaterStone Bank
February 1 & 15, March 4 & 18, and April 1 & 22 at 11:30 a.m.
Age 4 and older. Join us for facilitated play that teaches children about earning, spending, saving and sharing. Children will be the contestants in a fast-paced game show that will help them develop their financial vocabulary and learn to make smart decisions.
Animal Antics with the Zoological Society of Milwaukee
February 1 & April 26 at 10:30 a.m.
From animal senses to animal athletes, learn about animals from around the world with the Zoological Society of Milwaukee. Sing songs, play games and make a special craft to take home – and meet some live animals!
Movement and Music with Danceworks
February 2, March 1 and April 5 at 10:30 a.m.
Get your child's body - and mind - moving! Children will practice simple movement exercises that also help caregivers increase flexibility and model healthy exercise habits. Activities incorporate rhythm to help develop motor skills, stimulate brain development and awaken the senses.
Nature Nook with the Urban Ecology Center
February 3, March 2 and April 6 at 10:30 a.m.
Can winter come inside? How do you move like an animal? Is nature different at night? Join interactive, nature-themed programs that include songs, stories, games and hands-on fun.
Story Drama Workshops with First Stage
February 9, March 8 and April 12 at 10:30 a.m.
Age 3 and older. Join creative drama activities that encourage self-expression, concentration and cooperation. Have fun and enhance your creativity by recreating stories inspired by First Stage productions and classic children’s literature.
National Children’s Dental Health Month Fun with Dental Associates
February 13, February 15, February 20 and February 27 from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Get important information and enjoy fun activities to help build healthy and happy smiles for the entire family, and register to win a great prize package!
Wild Wisconsin with Riveredge Nature Center
February 17, March 16 and April 20 at 10:30 a.m.
Learn what makes Wisconsin a wildly wonderful place to live with a naturalist from Riveredge Nature Center. Hoot like an owl, make snowflakes and taste pure maple syrup as you explore the wonders of our natural world.
Trash to Treasure with Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful
February 23, March 29 and April 19 at 10:30 a.m.
Get crafty! Learn about our environment – and how to protect it – with stories and crafts. Explore a different environmental topic each month including trees, water, recycling and more!
Trinity Irish Dancers
March 13 at 1 p.m.
Watch young dancers during a 20-minute traditional Irish dance performance, and then stay to learn the dance!
The Anderson Insect Zoo
March 25 from 10 a.m. - noon
Kids love bugs – and Anderson Pest Solutions loves kids! Learn more about the fascinating world of insects with entomologists from Anderson Pest Solutions when they visit the Museum and bring along some of their unusual insect friends for children to experience up close.
"Jack and the Beanstalk" by the Florentine Opera Company
March 29 at noon and 1 p.m.
Age 3 and older. Enjoy a special version of “Jack and the Beanstalk” during a performance by the Florentine Opera Company! Discover how Jack helps the Giant learn that people large and small need to treat each other as they wish to be treated.
Earth Day
April 22
Take recycling to the next level – upcycle! Get creative and repurpose old magazines into beautiful centerpieces.
Milwaukee Children’s Choir
April 23 at 2 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
Age 3 and older. The Prelude Choir, the youngest voices in the Milwaukee Children’s Choir, will sing a variety of playful children’s choral music and traditional folk songs.
Milwaukee Ballet’s “Alice in Wonderland”
April 30 at 10:30 a.m.
Fall down the rabbit hole into the fantasy world first imagined by Lewis Carroll 150 years ago. Enjoy a sneak peek of this mad family adventure filled to the brim with charming flamingoes, junior cards, colorful daisies, sweet piglets, and fluffy hedgehogs – an incredible spectacle of dance, circus, theater, and puppetry!
