Pre-School Programs
About the Museum's pre-school programs
The years before age 5 are critical to a child's development. In addition to special programs throughout the year, our weekly pre-school programs build school-readiness as children and caregivers have fun learning together. Space is limited. Please sign up when you arrive at the Museum!
Pre-School Pop-In: Ages 3 – 5
10:30 a.m.

There will be no Pre-School Pop-In on March 25 or April 8
Join us for songs, stories and other fun group activities that focus on school readiness, and strengthening vocabulary and social skills.
Tot Time: Ages 1 – 3
10:30 a.m.

There will be no Tot Time April 9
Singing, listening to stories, playing games and joining in activities for our youngest visitors are the first, critical steps in building academic and social skills for a lifetime. Join us for fun and games that are all about learning.
Zumbini™: Age 3 and younger
March 4 and April 1
1 p.m

Join instructor Karen Mikolainis for fun, music, movement and dance in this 30-minute sample class.
Music Makers: Ages 2 – 5
March 6 & 20, April 17 & 24
10:30 a.m.

Sing, listen, play rhythm instruments and move to music with staff from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.

1 – 4 p.m.

Nanometer-sized things are very small, and often behave differently than larger things do. NanoDays is a nationwide celebration of nanoscale science – celebrate with us and enjoy activities throughout the Museum!
The Anderson Insect Zoo
April 3, 10 a.m. - noon
Learn about the fascinating world of insects with entomologists from Anderson Pest Solutions as they visit the Museum and bring some of their insect friends for children to experience up close.
Spring Break: It’s our 20th birthday!

The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum opened its doors on April 4, 1995. Help us celebrate our 20 years in Milwaukee with fun, educational birthday-themed workshops, every day during Spring Break week at 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.
“Goldie B. Locks & the Three Singing Bears” with the Florentine Opera Company
April 7
Noon and 1 p.m.

Enjoy a special version of Goldilocks & the Three Bears during a 45-minute performance. Suggested for children age 3 and older.

11:30 a.m.

Children will be the contestants in a fast-paced game show that will help them develop their financial vocabulary and learn to make smart decisions. This facilitated play will teach children about earning, spending, saving and sharing. Suggested for age 4 and older.
Get Growing with Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens
April 14
10:30 a.m.

Learn about flowers that grow from a bulb, if a groundhog can predict when spring will arrive, how to use weather to plan a garden, and how to grow plants using kitchen scraps!

5 – 8 p.m.

Enjoy FREE admission on the third Thursday of every month, and a special Be A Maker program for all little engineers, technicians and artists! Team up with other makers to build components for a large-scale collaborative sculpture that will be displayed at BBCM, then construct your own piece to take home. Mentors from BBCM and Milwaukee Makerspace will introduce tools, materials and techniques for endless ways to experiment and create.

Be A Maker programs during Neighborhood Night are presented by the Brady Corporation Foundation with additional support provided by Time Warner Cable, and by a grant from the City of Milwaukee Arts Board and the Wisconsin Arts Board.
Story Drama Workshops with First Stage
April 20

Recreate stories inspired by stage productions and classic children’s literature. Activities will encourage self-expression, concentration, and cooperation. Suggested for age 3 and older.
Story Time Yoga
April 21 & 28
10:30 a.m.

Get moving with Minda Devorkin, local author and youth yoga teacher! Children will move their bodies and use their minds as they share fun and playful stories while learning yoga.
Earth Day
April 22
Celebrate our world! Take the scavenger hunt challenge to find reused, recycled or repurposed materials in the Museum.
