Learn some cool new hip-hop moves with staff from Danceworks while getting some great exercise. This fun and funky workshop is just what you need to get your heart rate up and your “boogie down.” Rated E for everyone!

Kohl's Healthy Kids: Meet the Experts
February 27 at 11:15 a.m.

Join Children's Health Education Center staff as they teach children healthy habits through an engaging story. During the story children will move their bodies like animals, learn the importance of bike helmets, focus on the effect of "go" and "whoa" foods on their bodies, and learn to fight germs through hand washing and teeth brushing. Ages 3 - 12.

The Figureheads presented by Milwaukee Public Television
February 27 at noon

Milwaukee Public Television presents The Figureheads – Greg Marshall, Jeremy Bryan and Dave Olson – at the Museum. Don’t miss their original hip-hop musical performance, which has won numerous awards for its inspirational and positive messages. This fun show is sure to get kids moving and complements MPTV’S Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities, a new and important initiative to reverse the troubling trend of childhood obesity.

In March, look for MPTV’s children’s programming dedicated to healthy messages, and visit their Web site www.mptv.org for local resources and information about keeping your family healthy.

Kohl's Healthy Kids: It's How You Play the Game!
February 27 at 2:15 p.m.

Children will learn the importance of staying safe and maintaining a healthy lifestyle as they join a team and work together. Join Museum staff to play games with exciting questions and active challenges that highlight good nutrition, safety rules and gear, personal care routines, and the need to stay active and physically fit by making good choices. Ages 3 - 12.

Celebrate Black History Month
February

Create art projects based on African-American artists all month in the Artist’s Studio. Try the African Dance program on Feb. 4 at 11:30 a.m., join any of the Museum’s programs Feb. 23 – 26 to learn about important contributions of African-Americans, and enjoy a special story time on Feb. 26 at 2 p.m.
African Dance
February 4, March 11, and April 15 at 11:30 a.m.

Bring on the beat and move your feet! Learn basic African dance movements and information about the art form in the Museum’s Dance Studio. Kids will learn the importance of trying new things and practicing an active lifestyle. Age 2 and older.
Chinese New Year
February 5 & 19 at 10:30 a.m.

Celebrate the year of the tiger with the Cricket Academy, a non-profit organization that connects children and families with Chinese language and culture. Enjoy a short story about the tiger and Chinese New Year, learn vocabulary words in Mandarin, participate in songs and dance and make a tiger hand puppet to take home.
Betty’s Broadway
February 6, March 27, and April 10 at 11 a.m.

Children rehearse and perform a short theatrical scene for parents and peers! Using costumes, props and scripts, children learn stage terms while developing creativity, imagination and literacy skills through performance.
Korean Traditional Drumming
February 9 at 10:30 a.m.

Let’s Poongmul! Learn traditional rhythms of Korea through basic drumming in this fun and interactive class. Join Saehee Chang as she drums the Jang-gu and teaches participants about Korean culture and language. Age 3 and older.

Children will enjoy money-related stories and games, practice making financial choices and use play money to “purchase” a light snack. Our Own Olympics!
February 12 at 2 p.m.

Participate in our silly Olympics! Try cross-carpet cardboard skiing, sock skating and pretend slalom time trials. Design your own Olympic medal as a souvenir to take home.
Visual Arts for All
February 12 and April 23 at 11:30 a.m.

Join an art experience that enhances fine and gross motor skills in children, and offers adaptive tools and sensory integration strategies for children with a variety of capabilities. Resource materials and body-awareness strategies are provided. Age 2 and older.

President’s Day
February 15 - Museum open!

Learn about Presidents past and present and the Presidential seal, then design your own in the Artist’s Studio. At 2 p.m., join a special story time.
Singin’ in the Brinn
February 16 at 11:30 a.m.

Harness your inner star and sing karaoke in front of a pretend television audience in WBB-TV! Sing along to familiar children’s songs to foster self-confidence, expressive abilities and early literacy skills.

Earth Matters!
February 19, March 19 and April 23 at 2 p.m.

Children will learn appreciation for and information about the environment and earth systems through stories and games. Meet a friendly mystery creature, handle natural materials, and make a recycled craft to take home as a reminder to make earth-friendly decisions at home.
Music and Me
February 23 at 10:30 a.m.

Play rhythm instruments, listen to a variety of music, sing new and familiar songs and move to a musical beat. Learn about African American contributions to music while exploring basic musical concepts and find out the benefits of music for children and adults in this interactive program.
Yoga Fun for Small and Tall
February 24 at 10:30 a.m.

Join experienced yoga instructor Linda Murphy in an introductory yoga class for children age 4 and older and their caregivers. This fun, 45-minute class is designed to help children and adults gain strength, flexibility and balance, and improve fine and gross motor skills through interactive stories, pictures and poses.

Wear comfortable clothing for exercising and be prepared to sign a participation waiver. Space is limited, please register at the Information Desk on the day of the program. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Trinity Academy of Irish Dance
March 6 at 12:30 and 1 p.m.

See traditional Irish dance and marvel at the intricate steps of talented young performers who have earned multiple world titles over 30 years. Two 20-minute programs demonstrate the Academy’s goals of developing self-confidence, teaching cultural and life lessons and promoting Irish dance forms and styles.
Healthy Tooth Time!
March 9 at 11:30 a.m.

Join DDS Therese Pickart and learn about healthy tooth habits and try a brushing game with a giant tooth, Mr. Molar. Receive a free toothbrush and learn important information about caring for your smile. Age 2 and older.
“Three Little Pigs and other Fairy Tales”
March 13 at 1 p.m.

Find new fun in the classic story of the three pigs and other familiar tales in this Milwaukee Youth Theater production.

Step into Spring!
March 20 at 11:30 a.m.

Step into a new season by warming up your muscles and minds through sunny-themed tales, stretching and hopping exercises, and creating mini-kites. Age 2 and older.
Naomi’s Music Together
March 23 at 10:30 a.m.

Play instruments, chant rhythms and move to
music during this 45-minute class with Naomi Bodine, a teacher trained in the Music Together® program. This national program is known for its developmentally appropriate research-based curriculum. Space is limited. Please sign up at the Information Desk on the day of the program. Age 5 and younger.

“Monsters, Mayhem & Mac ‘n’ Cheese”
April 2 at 1:30 p.m.

Take a sneak peek of Danceworks Performance Company’s concert for families, “Monsters, Mayhem & Mac ‘n’ Cheese.” Dancers will perform an excerpt from the show, inspired by Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are.” Then it’s your turn to be in the spotlight during an interactive workshop, when you can move your body to the music!
“Book” a World Tour
April 9 at 11:30 a.m.

Join a librarian from the Milwaukee Public Library and travel to new lands of the imagination through literature. Create a souvenir for the trip home.
Spring Break Week
April 5 – 9

It’s a Spring Break staycation, filled with travel fun without the stress! “Pack” your bags and explore a healthy lifestyle at a Kohl’s Healthy Kids: It’s How You Play the Game program at 10:30 a.m. each day. At 2 p.m. daily, become an imaginary tourist and explore a whirlwind tour of the earth’s environments through stories, games and crafts.

On April 9 at 11:30 a.m., “book” your world tour with a special story time with the Milwaukee Public Library and make a souvenir to take home.
Michael "Papa Pickles" Drake - Music & Readings From His "The Growing Books"
April 10 at 1 p.m.

Join Milwaukee musician, entertainer and poet Michael Drake as he plays a selection of his sunny and celebratory songs. Take a peek at his new “The Growing Books Vol. 2,” featuring a collection of whimsical poem/picture books in English and Spanish that inspire creativity in children and adults. Earth Week/Earth Day
April 20 – 23/April 22

During Earth Week, the Museum’s weekly workshops will celebrate the wonders of the planet. On Earth Day, April 22, join a special earth-friendly story time at 1:30 p.m. and create your own recycled paper book in the Artist’s Studio at 2 p.m.
