Let's Play Railway!™

We first rented Let's Play Railway!™ in 2006. The visitor experience was so positive that when we had our building expansion in 2007, we immediately decided that we wanted to purchase the Let's Play Railway! Engine to be a permanent part of our museum. Let's Play Railway! is extremely well crafted, and support from Betty Brinn's staff has been wonderful."
- Billie Little, Executive Director
Discovery Center at Murfree Spring, Murfreesboro, TN

BBCM's attention to detail and sincere desire to make this experience available to our small museum speaks to their true commitment to provide children and families with enriching learning opportunities which are focused on play. Visitors of all ages loved Let's Play Railway!™ It's an awesome exhibit!"
- Pam Ross, Executive Director
Children's Museum of South Carolina, Myrtle Beach

Exhibit Overview

Our popular exhibit based on BRIO®'s classic wooden toy train is available for purchase and rent. Let's Play Railway! offers the classic BRIO mark of excellence, representing quality to adults and endless play possibilities for children. Little engineers can make big decisions when they climb aboard the exhibit’s giant-sized train Engine, Cattle Wagon and Caboose where the railway adventures are nonstop and working together is fun.

The Engine – where little ones make big decisions:

  • Engineer’s Cab: Little engineers will have fun operating levers, dials, cranks and buttons that trigger realistic sound effects.
  • Piston Power: A kid-powered crankshaft makes colorful characters pop in and out of pretend pistons.
  • Cow Catcher Xylophone: A place to play familiar tunes, make simple sounds or create musical patterns.
  • Locomotion Wheel: Kids are challenged to guide a train on an a-MAZE-ing journey to the end of the line.
  • Tumble Wheel: Tumbling neon-colored shapes against a mirrored background lets kids create new patterns with every turn.

The Cattle Wagon – big fun for little farmers:

  • Farm Friends: Includes everything kids need to care for a kid-sized cow and pony: a feed bag, brushes, buckets, and a wheelbarrow and trough – even a milking stool.
  • Farmer’s Field: Kids can harvest the corn, store it in the silo, or feed it to their animal friends.
  • Sing Along with Old MacDonald: Two versions of this family favorite encourage children to listen or sing along.
  • Hands Down: Kids will love watching their handprint appear and disappear on this heat sensitive train wheel.
  • On the Ball: Stops and starts of the wheel let kids control the path of a ball through a pin maze.
  • Locomotion Library: A read-with-me book nook where children can browse a selection of favorite and educational books about trains.

The Caboose – the perfect “end”-ing to the fun:

  • On the Right Track: Kids guide a ball from station to station – with a surprise at the end of the track.
  • Roly-Poly Wheel: Kids can “rock and roll” their way into the Caboose – a mirror captures every tumble.
  • CartWheel: Each rotation sends a playful character head-over-heels.
  • The Sky is the Limit: It takes a careful turn of the wheel to move the sun and moon across the sky.

Target Audience: Educational activities are designed for children ages 3 – 8.

A BRIO wooden railway set and play table are yours to keep! A new play table featuring BRIO's popular Wooden Railway complements the exhibit and provide endless opportunities for play.

Signage: Each car features signage (English and Spanish) that provides adults with information about the educational value of the activities and ways to enhance a child's experience during their make-believe ride on Let's Play Railway!

Serving Children with Special Needs: Let's Play Railway! offers activities that encourage children at all ability levels to explore and learn from their environment while practicing fundamental physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills. The three exhibit components can be spaced to maximize paths for wheelchairs and other mobility aids, and all but one of the exhibit's interactives are accessible with mobility aids measuring up to 25" in width.

Space Requirements: The exhibit's three major components can be arranged in a variety of configurations, requiring approximately 900 – 1100 square feet.

The Engine: 13'L x 4'W x 6'6"H
The Cattle Wagon: 10'L x 4'W x 5'8"H
The Caboose: 9'L x 4'W x 6'H

Electrical Requirements: The Engine and the Cattle Wagon each require a 110V electrical source which can be brought in from below or above.
